Push mowers are awesome, but you have to be in decent shape to use them. My grandma just isn't strong enough to use a push mower, so I got her a cool electric lawnmower that does the job. It's clean, quiet, and very efficient. The brand name is Neuton, I believe.

Homeowners can save a lot of money by educating themselves on the green building process before hiring a contractor or attempting any serious DIY. This will help them get the best value on their project and ensure that what they are doing really is green, not just trendy.

First let me say I think your site is a great idea – kudos. It’ looks great as well. But I am not sure I agree with your hand wash vs. dishwasher conclusion.

I think there has been some pretty reasonable research and testing done that would indicate that it's possible to be more efficient when hand-washing, but it's pretty difficult. For example, can you wash and rinse a soiled dinner plate in just over a cup of water? That’s about what it requires if you’re using a dishwasher from the analytics I have seen.

Of course, you can’t run your dishwasher when it's only half full of dirty dishes, or if you have a very old inefficient dishwasher you might do better washing by hand. But for me personally, if it’s a toss- up, the dishwasher gets my vote.

Good point, and to be truthful, I am a repeat offender. But I am slowly converting to being "green" and every little bit helps. So I'm off (walking) to find a new coffee mug.

Yes, I am agree with you that hand dryers saves money on paper towels. And hand dryers also protect earth from land pollution because paper towel creats a land pollution and also requires lots of chemicals to produce paper towels.

You can check many products that are hygeic at Manufacturers Hand Dryers

OK, I did check out both options when redoing the horrible backyard we got when we bought our house last year. I think Sod was $2 a roll which sounded cheap. It was 3 feet by 1 foot. I needed to do a 12 x 12 foot area. That would have been about $100 for Sod. Being cheap, I went an got a bag of grass seed instead for under $10.

It took less than half the bag to see the area and it started growing in about 10 days and it survived the winter fine. Plus I had enough to do 2 more patches of grass in the front and backyard. They are both growing fine.

I do recommend getting a tiller if you are planting seed in a large area. I did not have one last year, but I got one this year and it made it so much easier. I have the back area of my yard to do this weekend which is 8 x 40 and without a tiller it would take forever.
