I’ve been using cold water to wash clothes in for a few months and I think it’s a great idea to help save on hot water. There are a few products out there that help you save energy by reducing the amount of hot water you use in your laundry.
I’ve switched to using this “Tide Coldwater” and it works pretty good. I always thought that using cold water in the laundry would be great but wouldn’t wash quite as well since warmer water is usually better for removing stains. But this works just as good as the normal stuff.
This is just one example of a cold water washing product though. By using cold water you can still get a good wash and save money on hot water. Plus by saving the hot water you will not run out during a shower as easily if you have a large family or undersized hot water tank.
Your hot water tank will not have to heat as much cold water as often. This can help you help your hot water heater and your energy bill. A nice little trick to save power and money.
