“Who Killed The Electric Car?”

“Who killed the electric car?” is truly an interesting movie.  I have seen this movie a couple of times now and I find it very informative and well put together.

“Who killed the electric car?” is about the downfall of electric cars (mainly General Motors EV1) and the questionable and even sometimes shady actions taken by different parties to keep electric cars off the road.  What an eye opener.  This movie really turns your attention towards automotive industry, government, oil companies and so on and makes you wonder what we’re not seeing them doing behind the scenes.

Now I’m not trying to point fingers or raise any political issues here.  That’s not what this is about.  I just believe that this is a great documentary that is worth watching if you’re  interested in electric cars and their future.  This movie raises the question “Where are all the electric cars?” and it shows what happened to some of them.

So if you’re curious about electric car technology and would like to learn a little bit about the history of these cars, check this movie out.  I highly recommend it.  It’s definitely one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen.

  • So out of all the current electric cars that are on the road, or scheduled to be in the next year, which is the best one? Is the new Volt worth waiting for or is there something better or just as good already out?

Another question. What can I do to improve the vehicle I am currently driving? I am in no hurry to get a new car, but would love to be able to get more mileage out of my current one.

Well Alicia, there are not many things you can do to increase your fuel economy significantly without a large bill attached to it but there are some small things you can try.

Always keep your tires at their recommended PSI because under-inflated tires will force your car’s engine to work harder burning more fuel.

Keep your engine tuned up to keep it running at it’s best possible performance.

Use the recommended fuel for your vehicle. Although it is often debated, using a higher octane gasoline does not necessarilly get you better fuel economy.

If you have a cruise control, use it. Often when we drive we don’t pay attention to our speed and we have to speed up and slow down often burning more fuel. Cruise control maintains a constant speed.

Lighten your load. Remove all unnecessary weight from your vehicle to keep that extra load off your engine.
